About some of the locations
I get a lot of questions about where the shots were taken. Most of my recent work was shot in and around my home in Rochester, Monroe County in New York State. Rochester was originally called Flour City due to it being a hub for flour milling for the midwest farms. In the 1850's that industry was waning when "the world's largest seed company", Ellwanger & Barry Nursery, came to town. The nickname was changed to Flower City. It is a very apt description because Rochester boasts some of the most beautiful parks in the country. This includes Highland Park which was designed by Olmstead, the same man who designed Central Park in New York City, among others.
Highland Park
Home of the annual Lilac festival and Lamberton Consertatory, Highland Park is 150 acre park in the heart of Rochester. It is beautiful at any time of year. https://www.monroecounty.gov/parks-highland
Mendon Pond Park
The largest park in Monroe County, Mendon Pond Park is a vast 2500 acre space with varied landscapes including a "Fairy walk" and the "Devils Bathtub". The picture to the left is Devil's bathtub in the Fall. Many of the bird pictures were taken on the fairy walk where the birds will literally eat out of one's hand. https://www.monroecounty.gov/parks-mendonponds
Durand Eastman Park
Situated on Lake Ontario, Durand Eastman Park has 5500 feet of beach front and 977 acres of woodland and marsh. There are plenty of trails to explore through it. https://www.monroecounty.gov/parks-durandeastman
